Teaching

Will enjoys teaching and maintains a busy teaching schedule.  He is the percussion faculty at three area colleges, University of St. Thomas, Normandale Community College, and Hamline University.  He teaches at his home studio on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.  He has a unique set up in his studio with two drum sets, so that both he and the student can play at the same time.  Percussion is a musical art, so he likes to use many play-alongs for drum set and marimba instruction.  At his studio Will teaches lessons on drum set, marimba, conga, djembe, and snare drum, from beginning to advanced.

He also teaches on Tuesday afternoons at Schmitt music in Edina and takes students from West Bank School of Music.

With hand drum groups, Will focuses on the group groove, traditional rhythms, and spontaneous group compositions.  Solo efforts are fostered and encouraged as well.  His overall vibe mixes in a good dose of fun with enough technique and artistry to smooth the way.
